The NanoString ncounterplattform

The nCounter system is a fully automated system consisting of (I) a Prep Station and (II) a Digital Analyser.

I. The Prep Station is an automated liquid handling system that processes the hybrids between target molecule and capture and reporter probes (containing a fluorescent barcode). These samples are immobilised on a cartridge that will be used for data analysis in the (II) Digital Analyser.
II. The Digital Analyser detects the fluorescent barcodes of the reporter probes using a CCD camera. The data output contains the target molecule identifier and the count number (exact amount of detected target molecules).

The free-to-download software (nSolver) enables the subsequent normalisation and analysis of the data. The software can be downloaded from NanoString.
